Days of Awe

We are in the middle of the ten days considered the holiest in the Jewish calendar: "The Days of Awe." This ten day period begins with the celebration of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah (Head of the Year), and completes with Yom Kippur, the "Day of Atonement", an opportunity to complete the past so that its shadow does not cloud and shape the Light that creates the present and the future.

The eight days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are the least recognized aspect of this ten-day period, yet these eight days are critical in their importance for anyone who has an intention to move beyond a rote observance of tradition and ritual to recognize, embrace, and practice the universal underlying principles that end all suffering.

These eight days were originally designed as a time of rigorous reflection and inquiry; a time to take stock of one's life, observe what works and does not work, and witness the defensive and survival patterns that cut one off from Spirit, others, and one's own purpose and life principle. It is a time to be responsible for one's inner state of being by authentically and honestly observing any and all resentments, regrets, angers, betrayals, traumas, limiting beliefs, etc. one has with all others, God, or oneself so that when the Day of Atonement arrives, it is used as it was designed-as a day to forgive and dissolve all of it, to complete the past. What is left in the wake of that forgiveness is the Unconditional LOVE that dissolves all separation and illusions, allowing us to experience our oneness with others, the world, and the Source of All. Then all of our days are "Days of Awe." This path to freedom through dissolving the illusions of the conditioned mind is available to everyone at any moment-regardless of one's religion, background or culture.

The Days of Awe are an ancient expression of the principle of dissolving. Various forms of this principle can be found within most religious and spiritual traditions. It is at the heart of what Shiva represents in the Hindu tradition, and what Jesus expresses in the Christian tradition. The practice of dissolving releases back into formlessness all past conditioning, fears, and beliefs that block us from living fully from our true infinite creative nature. Dissolving is one of the three dynamics of Being that make up the heart of Core Wisdom, and one of the days of the Core Wisdom 3-Day Course is dedicated to developing one's ability to dissolve all limitations at all dimensions of experience.

You do not have to be a member of a particular religion or wait for a particular time of year to dissolve all that clouds the face of Love and Oneness. You do not have to wait to discover your purpose and mission in life if you have dissolved the mental static that blocks your awareness of the core wisdom within you that is always present to provide you with guidance. Allow yourself to invest in a time each day for inquiry and reflection on whatever constricts the flow of the creative light that you are in any way, and dissolve it. There is no better use of your time than to invest it in your own full awakening to love, creativity, freedom and joy. Can you do this? Yes, you can! Will you? When?

Only you can answer these last two questions.
