(Knowing about something conceptually is but a pale imitation of what it is to know something by experiencing it directly. Just as the concept of love can never give one the direct experience of love itself, and reading the ingredients for a recipe can never give one the direct experience of tasting the food, the power and value of Core Wisdom is only realized when we shift from knowing about it as a concept to knowing it directly as it opens up and illuminates our lives. Last week, I received an inspiring email titled, "From Beyond". It was written by "E.V.", a participant in Core Wisdom dedicated to living the principles in action on a daily basis. He shares what has opened up for him by having the Core Wisdom principle of "allowing" take root as a living, breathing, resonate presence in his life. With E.V.'s permission, I share with you below the gift of his insights and wisdom. ----Hal)
I have often questioned, "how do I put into words the experience of Core Wisdom?" To have distinguished "allowing" (and we're talking about allowing everything) as a power, a freedom, and the source of peace and not some wimpy, passive, get your ass run over strategy has opened me to being awestruck, grateful and filled with delight (that's how "sutheners" say filled with the light!) To go from a constricted, limited sense to an expansive bigger-than-life sense truly makes this a peace that passes all understanding. To express my appreciation, "I" begs that the smile in the words of Rumi will say it for me.
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Welcome and entertain them all!
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
Be grateful for whoever comes,
-- Rumi
