A few months ago, I experienced a dramatic example of the healing power available to us when we trust the infinite Core Wisdom within. It always "knows what to do" to bring about wholeness, harmony, and balance.
M.K. had increasing pain in both of her knees whenever she walked. Over the years, the cartilage in her knees had deteriorated, and now when she walked it was bone grinding on bone.
At the beginning of this year, she decided to have knee replacement surgery on both of her knees. When we spoke on the telephone, she requested that I work with her when she got out of the hospital to increase the vibration of her natural healing energy and speed up her recovery.
The operation was extensive. The surgeon attached metal ends to her femur, tibia and fibula bones where the bone had deteriorated rubbing against each other, and then he added artificial kneecaps in both knees. Two weeks after the surgery, M.K. called me. Swelling was extensive given the trauma to both knees, and the pain was very strong, even with medication.
When I arrived to see her, she was sitting in a chair with a walker in front of her. She had been doing daily physical therapy, but was still only able to stand and move with great difficulty and with much pain. Both knees were very swollen, with vertical scars running down the front of both knees. She showed me an x-ray of her knees, and the extent of bone replacement that had taken place. I asked her to tell me on a scale of 0 to 10 (with 10 being the most intense, and 0 being no pain at all), what the level of pain was in her knees as she sat in her chair.
"It's a 5," she said.
Then I asked her to stand up slowly and tell me what level of pain she felt in that position, with the weight of her body on her knees.
"It's a 9 or 10," she said.
I asked her to sit down again, and placing my hands gently on her knees, I began running energy into them, visualizing the muscle, tendons, ligaments and bone of her knees composed of white light, and seeing her knees as already healed. Immediately, I began to feel a tremendous heat in my own body, a heat that ran down into my hands. After about ten minutes, she began to comment on how cold my hands were becoming, and how cold her knees felt. I found this interesting, since what I was experiencing was heat. Her daughter was sitting on a nearby sofa watching our session, and out of curiosity, I took my right hand off M.K.'s left knee, and placed my hand on her daughter's hand.
"What do you think?" I asked.
"Your hand feels warm to me, " she said.
Then I put my right hand back on my client's left knee, and she immediately said, "Wow, it's even colder now!"
As I continued to run energy into her knees and legs, I thought about the difference in the cold sensation she was feeling versus the hot sensation I was feeling and the warm sense her daughter had felt when I touched her hand with mine. I realized that M.K.'s knee muscles and ligaments had been traumatized, swollen, and inflamed by the operation, and that the appropriate expression of healing energy for her was that of cold, in order to reduce the inflammation.
I became present to the infinite loving wisdom of universal Spirit, realizing with awe and gratitude that healing energy spontaneously takes whatever form and manifestation is necessary to return one to wholeness and wellness. It can even manifest differently for the client, the practitioner and an observer at the same time!
I continued being a conduit for raising the frequency of healing energy in M.K.'s body for seventy minutes, when the shift in the energy flow told me that it was complete. I asked her what the pain level in her knees was at now as she sat there. She told me that there was no longer any pain in her right knee. It was at a zero, and there was only a slight discomfort in her left knee. "The left knee is about a one and a half," she said. She was very pleased the pain had gone from a 5 to almost nothing.
I asked her to see what the pain level was in her knees now when she stood up. She wanted to walk me to the door, so she gripped her walker, stood and walked slowly with me. "The pain is still at a 9 when I'm standing and walking," she said.
"Okay," I said. "Sometimes it takes awhile to respond. I'll check in with you in 3 days."
Three days later, I called. "The pain is down to a 5 when I stand and walk," M.K. said excitedly.
A week later, I saw her again at a social event. She was able to walk around very well using her walker, and the pain was continuing to diminish quickly.
Last month, I saw her at another occasion. She had only a cane with her, but used it occasionally. She is able to drive her car herself, and get around with no problem.
It was a privilege to have supported her in speeding up her own body's healing process, and to realize anew that when we are open to being guided by Spirit's healing presence, we never have to figure out "how it works" or what form it should take. We just need to surrender to the infinite wisdom that knows what is needed and provides it.
